History
We’ll begin by taking a health history. In preparation for this, it’s important to think about:
- Any concerns that you may have
- Your current method of birth control and whether you are happy with it
- Whether you are comfortable doing a self-breast exam
- Your interest in the HPV Vaccine, Gardasil
Guidelines
Our physicians may also discuss general guidelines on women’s health including:
- When to begin cholesterol screening
- Whether you’re due for your next Tetanus Shot
- If you should consider a mammogram
- If you should consider Bone Density Screening
- Whether you should begin screening for colon cancer
- Birth control options
In addition to the overall physical exam, your gynecologic exam will most often include a pap smear ( to screen for cervical cancer) , breast, pelvic and rectal exam.
Finally, if possible, please try NOT to schedule your annual check-up during your menstrual period.
